Do I Need a First Aid Certificate to Enrol in This Training?

If you are taking Door Supervision or Security Officer training, you will need to show that you hold a current and valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It is an SIA requirement that each learner is sufficiently qualified in First Aid or Emergency First AidThis certificate must be valid for at least 12 months from the security course start date.

Are there any prerequisites for the SIA Top-Up Training for Door Supervisors  Course?

Yes, there is mandatory pre-course work to be completed before you attend your training. Full details are provided in your booking confirmation email when you book the course. In particular, you must complete the ACT Awareness and ACT Security e-learning courses and provide certificates for these before you attend your training.

Unit 2: Principals of Using Equipment for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Sector

  • Know how to use equipment relevant to a door supervisor
  • Recognise equipment used to manage venue capacity
  • Recognise the different types of personal protective equipment relevant to the role of a door supervisor
  • State the purpose of using bodyworn cameras (BWC)
  • Identify how to communicate effectively using relevant equipment
  • Demonstrate effective use of communication devices
  • Know what actions to take in relation to global (or critical) incidents
  • Know government guidance in relation to global (or critical) incidents
